This course will focus on the contemporary socio-political and economic aspects of Bangladesh; analyzes the constitution and foreign policy and evaluate the government policies and programmes. It will also lay emphasis on the environment and other contemporary issues of our country as well as regional issues.
The course will also trace the development of the ideas shaping the modern world, international affairs with its background. It will analyze the factors determining political power in modern world, distribution of world resources, conflict of interests, international organizations, trouble spots of the world, world peace and major scientific developments. Determining geographic locations of important places and establishments and map reading is essential for the course.

2. Elementary mathematical concepts and notions: Counting and measuring, ranking rating, scoring, scaling, frequencies, percentage, proportions and ratios.
3. Components of statistical investigation: The universe and sample, the variables and measure, and the distribution.
4. Distribution of variables: Distribution for discrete quantitative variables, distribution shapes for quantitative variables.
5. Location of a distribution: The arithmetic mean as a measure of location-locating a distribution by its percentiles- the mean, the median and the mode.
6. Spread of a distribution: range, mean deviation, standard and deviation and variance measures of spread related to the percentiles of a distribution.
